How to debloat before an event: the same-day plan

Whether it's a wedding, a first date, or a night out — you want to feel your best. This is a realistic, no-gimmick plan for reducing bloating on the day itself. The evening before
- No alcohol (causes inflammation and significant water retention the next day)
- Cut carbonated drinks now — including sparkling water
- Eat a simple dinner: lean protein, cooked vegetables, plain rice
- No beans, dairy, raw onions, garlic, or cruciferous vegetables tonight
- Drink 500ml water before bed
- Take magnesium citrate in the evening — it works overnight to relieve any constipation-related bloating by morning Morning of the event
- Warm lemon water on waking
- Take your enzyme blend and diuretic support early — they need time to work
- Breakfast: plain oats with banana, or 2 eggs with sourdough toast. No dairy, no high-FODMAP foods.
- 20-minute walk after eating : 4–5 hours before
- Light lunch: grilled chicken or fish, steamed vegetables (zucchini, spinach, green beans — not broccoli), plain rice
- Eat slowly — 20+ minutes, no rushing
- Walk for 15 minutes after eating
- Avoid chewing gum (you swallow air)
- Keep drinking still water 2–3 hours before
- Stop eating now. A 2–3 hour gap before the event gives digestion time to work without adding new volume.
- Sip still water only
- Abdominal massage for 5 minutes — clockwise, moderate pressure
- 10-minute walk if you can 1 hour before
- Peppermint tea if you have any gas discomfort
- Wear comfortable clothing — tight waistbands physically restrict digestion and make bloating worse
- Avoid tight shapewear that compresses the abdomen What NOT to do
- Don't try any new supplements, powders, or "detox drinks" you haven't used before — new ingredients can cause unpredictable reactions
- Don't skip eating entirely — an empty stomach produces gas and makes you feel worse, not better
- Don't take laxatives — unpredictable, can cause cramping: If bloating hits right before you leave
